Justice for Nosicelo trends after a 23-year old woman’s chopped and mutilated body was found in a suitcase in East London.

South Africans are left reeling by yet another gender-based violence incident in which a final year LLB student from the University of Fort Hare became the latest victim of femicide in the country.

The victim’s surname is yet to be released and a 25-year old suspect who is believed to be Nosicelo’s boyfriend has been arrested for her murder.

Her boyfriend had allegedly murdered, then dismembered Nosicelo before stuffing her body parts into plastic bags and a suitcase.

Police spokesperson Brigadier Tembinkosi Kinana said, “crime prevention members were patrolling Fitzpatrick Road on Thursday morning when they were informed by a motorist that a body had been found in a suitcase in Quigney.”

Further investigations led police to the house the victim shared with her boyfriend where other body parts were found in plastic bags which led to his arrest.

The victim’s head, neck and hands could not be found and police are still investigating the details of Nosicelo’s murder.

The suspect was due to appear in the East London Magistrate’s Court on Friday and would be charged with murder.

According to reports, people in the same residency as the pair heard loud arguing before complete silence and they assumed the couple had settled their argument.

The suspect accused Nosicelo of cheating and their neighbours confirmed they were always fighting and thought nothing of their altercation.

Meanwhile, social media users are calling for “Justice for Nosicelo” and for her killer to meet his fate with a number of the deceased family members speaking out about their relationship.
