Congratulations are in order for Maps Maponyane after he opened his third ‘Buns Out’ restaurant in Norwood.

The ‘Tell Me Sweet Something’ actor shared the exciting news on Instagram.

“It’s been challenging through the pandemic for us, but we’ve been lucky to have not closed down. Instead we’ve not only opened a new one in Rosebank, but also Norwood now,” he wrote.

Maps also shared a before and after video of how he transformed the venue for his new outlet.

“If you haven’t been to our latest baby yet, you’re in for a pleasant surprise and experience… Thank you for keeping us in business.”

Expanding in the middle of a pandemic

Maps opened his second ‘Buns Out’ outlet in Rosebank in September last year.

His mother, Sylvia Maponyane, was there to support him.

“And just like that, a year later to the exact day, our second Buns Out baby is born! Of course my mom had to come by yesterday to give the thumbs up before we could make things official,” he tweeted.

Sylvia was also by his side when he opened his first outlet in Linden in 2019.

“Couldn’t say anything until I brought my toughest critic along, and now that she’s happy – I’m Excited to share that I’ve just opened my first restaurant. A burger spot in Linden, Johannesburg called ‘Buns Out’,” he captioned a picture with his mother at the time.

Maps also opened up a pop-up version of his restaurant in Durban in January last year.

One of the best burger joints in the world

‘Buns Out’ made Bloomberg’s list of best burger restaurants in the world in 2020.

The list was based on the views of Michelin-star chefs.

TV chef Lorna Maseko nominated the outlet.

“This new joint in suburban Linden is the first of actor and TV celebrity Maps Maponyanes. It has attracted a lot of media attention. There are about a dozen burgers, including vegetarian and vegan options. Quirky names include, Is It Brie You’re Looking For?” Bloomberg wrote.
