The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has returned the case docket related to Anele ‘Nelli’ Tembe‘s death back to the police.

The case has been sent back for further investigation. Nelli fell to her death from the 10th storey of a Cape Town hotel in April.

She was in the Mother City with her fiancé, rapper AKA, at the time. The ‘Congratulate’ hitmaker shared what happened that fateful day in an interview with Thembekile Mrototo.

He says he called hotel staff after Nelli allegedly threatened to jump off the balcony.

“I went to the bathroom and when I came out of the bathroom, she was not in the room. I look around and she’s not there. I went to the balcony and looked down at the street and that’s where she was,” he said.

Further Investigation

According to the City Press, police completed their investigation into the incident in May. The docket was then sent to the NPA.

The NPA explained why it decided to send the docket back to the police.

“Further investigation was requested, as is standard for all matters where the deceased dies of unnatural causes,” the NPA said in a statement, according to TshisaLIVE.

The case is still under investigation.
